Ann Oram was born in London in 1956. She spent her childhood in the highlands of Scotland and went on to study at the Edinburgh College of Art, where she later became a lecturer herself.
She is in every sense an Edinburgh School painter with elements of her work being reminiscent of that of Sir Robin Philipson, Anne Redpath and William Gillies. Unafraid of painting in watercolour on a large scale, Ann's work combines technical precision with luminous swathes of colour.
In the last twenty years Ann has exhibited regularly in both Scotland and England and has been a participant in the annual exhibitions of both the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour and the Royal Academy of London. She has won many artistic awards that have enabled her to travel and paint in Europe and America and her work has become known to a wider audience through the publication of her images as posters and limited edition prints
